Repeating marks
Measure the distance between repeats. A consistent interval points to a specific rotating part — drum, developer roller or fuser sleeve — because each has its own circumference.
Vertical lines and streaks
Full-length lines usually mean drum or cleaning blade damage on prints, or a dirty scanner glass strip on copies. Copy one page from the glass and one from the feeder to tell them apart.
Faded or washed-out output
Check toner level first, then density settings, then transfer roller condition. Fading on one side of the page often indicates a transfer or drum contact issue rather than low supply.
Ghosting and smearing
Faint repeats of an earlier image point to drum fatigue or wrong media settings. Smearing that rubs off suggests fuser temperature problems or paper too heavy for the selected profile.
